Dilton Single Door
Wood Types
Softwood.
Tanalised Green Timber.
The Timber we use is of the same quality grade (5 Grade) as our Untreated Doors.
Once dry the timber will change to a golden brown colour.
Please Note That Tanalised Treated Timber Has more of a Rustic Finish due to the Pressure Treating Process and will shrink and expand.
All Our Tanalised Timber is Treated using a Tanaith E, which is a product containing Biocidal Products (control of wood destroying organisms). Therefore the product can be hung without any treatment. But overtime in outdoor conditions the treatment will fade and will need topping up.
Weston Red Cedar.
Thermowood.
Thermal Modification.
The Timber we use is of the same quality grade (5 Grade) as our Untreated Gates
The process involves heating timber to a temperature of 180-220 degrees Celsius which darkens the colour. While at the same time protecting it with steam. 100% Natural no chemicals are added.
Thermowood is an environmentally friendly and fully recyclable product. It remains dimensionally stable and the moisture content is also permanently reduced. The moisture content decreases to around 4-6 percent and does not react to changes in humidity drastically as untreated Timber.
The cells of wood are modified and that caused changes in the wood characteristics. Resin is removed from the Timber and the process also decreases water absorption.
No Treatment is required, but can be Painted or Stained if required.
